The Called & Gifted Workshop

The Second Vatican Council was the first General Council in the Catholic Church that specifically addressed the need of formation for the Laity. It then issued a Decree, named the “Apostolate of the Laity.” Pope Paul 11 has recently written a very important document on this subject, the “Vocation and Mission of the Lay Faithful in the Church and in the World.” (Christifideles Laici) In this document he states, “The Fundamental Objective of the formation of the laity is an ever clearer discovery of one’s vocation and an ever greater willingness to live it and so fulfill one’s mission.”

In response to this call of the Church, and seeing the needs in our world today, we at the Spiritual Enrichment Center have decided to present this Workshop as a form of Adult Education for the laity. This workshop, “The Catholic Spiritual Gifts Inventory” is compiled and promoted by the Dominican Order.

The purpose of this workshop is to seek to understand how God gifts His people, and works through them to accomplish His purposes in the world.

The goal of this workshop is four-fold. It hopes to create in us a greater awareness of the following:

· Christ is present in this world and continues his work of Redemption.

· The unique way God is calling me, as an individual, to be transformed and participate with Christ in His work.

· To discern my charisms or unique gifts – what they look like – feel like etc.

· An overview of the whole concept of the Lay Mission in the Church.

The Ageless in the Lord Seminar

God loves each one of us infinitely and in a very personal manner. While we are young, He seems to allow us to follow our own path, to try different things and sometimes even to experiment. As we approach the 50 mark, He seems to pull the strings a little closer and we begin to feel the need to look at our spiritual journeys in a more serious and deeper manner.

This series of six presentations is specially recommended for those approaching mid-life, as well as for seniors in their later years. As we move into the middle years, we need a new vision of our present life stage, a vision that offers continued spiritual growth and personal satisfaction.

Unfortunately, some people take a dismal view of the later years, not seeing how God has ordained these years as a time for magnificent inner spiritual growth.

This seminar is grace-filled in that it allows us to grow closer to God, closer to our real selves, closer to our God-centeredness, by recognizing what aging is and what we thought it was. It is something so much more and very much in God's plan.
